5 iPhone Apps I Can’t Live Without

May 2, 2009 in Software, iPhone by LwEEs

Productivity, that’s what is all about, when I initially purchase the iPhone I wonder if I really needed the device. Spending $200 and paying a hefty data plan for the iPhone is something you should consider seriously before you get into it. After some time now, the feeling of being connected all the time is priceless, I can’t leave without my iPhone.

How good is to have a device like the iPhone if you are not going to use it for what it is intended? This is not just a phone, if all you need is to make phone calls, get something else, the interactivity you get with the iPhone is far more advanced than that of any other phone, and that’s just my opinion.

I don’t need to carry my MacBook everywhere, except when I do and my wife complaints about it, the extensibility of the iPhone allows you to be productive anywhere, anytime. Here are some examples of applications I use everyday:

  1. NetNewsWire – NetNewsWire for the iPhone is as useful as the desktop application, this application allow you to keep in sync with all your RSS feeds subscription between platforms. Follow all your favorites websites with this great application, manage feeds, and follow links, all you need in the palm of your hand.
  2. TwitterFon – Not everybody lives on Twitter, but I do, I’ve been tempted to buy Tweetie for iPhone but the economy is being harsh on me this year. For the rest of us, TwitterFon is the best free application to use twitter on your phone. You can post your status, ready your timeline, mentions, and direct messages.
  3. Mother Feed – Basically, this is FriendFeed for the iPhone, the software allows you to read your feed subscriptions, visits your rooms, submit a message, and manage some options on your account. What I like the most about Mother Feed is the cleanliness of the application, you don’t see weird fancy buttons, just clickable items from your feed and some other options.
  4. Evernote – If you have the need to organize notes, snapshots, or even voice notes, and you have an iPhone, then you need Evernote for the iPhone. Like it’s desktop version, Evernote lets you organize, add, and delete your notes from the iPhone and keep them in sync with your desktop software.
  5. Klick – Klick is a Flickr application that allows you upload images to Flickr on the go, you can see images of friends you have subscribed to, public images of people around you. You can search for images and check out your groups if you have any, what I like the most is the easy to navigate features and the elegant user interface.

If you notice all these applications have something in common, they provide you with the ability of consume all your social networking updates on the go. When you are on the go, there are a lot of instances when you have to wait in a line, what a better opportunity than that to update your status or talk about something funny.

Social interaction is very important and with our busy lives we need to take advantage of any moment we have to do some interaction and stay in tuned with what other say or think or talk about.
