Blog Challenge by Lorelle on Wordpress

Lorelle is a respectable blogger-ette that I’ve followed for some time now, I love her passion for blogging because more than often I learn something new from her. She just posted an article challenging blogger to share their favorite one tip that was very useful back when you started blogging, since I’m up for the challenge, here is my tip hopefully you’ll like it.
I remember that back when I started blogging I use to feel lost at times, with nothing on my mind to blog about. I had my passion defined but my skills to start an article were bad, I feel that I have improved a lot and its all thanks to sites like lorelle.wordpress.com and problogger.com. There are other sites that bring so much knowledge to me, but these two are the best. That’s exactly my tip, find people that inspire you, that when you read what they have to say it empowers you and make you feel confident about what you are doing.
The best way I think you can find out about these people is reading other blogs, more than often a blogger just like me will tell you where he got his inspiration from to start blogging and from there you can make you own mind. Pay attention to what other say about great sources of knowledge and give them all a chance, if a particular writer is not the type of person you like all you’ve lost is a little bit of reading time. If you can only find one person that really inspire you, email this person directly, and ask what recommendation you can get of places that can inspire you as a writer, blogger, etc.
Start small and grow as you go, participate in forums, comment on other peoples blogs, by giving your opinion out you are opening a door receive feedback from others and this will make you a successful writer. Of course, there are other things you need to succeed, but the most important thing is to know that reputation is something you build through time and effort. Lorelle, hopefully this was your intention, if anyone thinks that I miss the point please let me know. Thanks for reading.
Blogger-ette! That’s a first for me. Wow! Cute. I like it.
Actually, the challenge was for WordPress tips, but it does bring up an important issue: understanding what you are reading.
As you mention, there is a lot of learning one can do as they start their blogging process. Assimilating the information is another thing. We so often inject so much of our own thoughts and filters on what we read that we might be missing some really good points.
I think the most important thing a new blogger needs to learn is to keep an open mind. Blogging ain’t like anything else they’ve done, but in a way, it’s no different from being on the high school paper, writing in your diary, working on term papers, and networking and sharing with friends. It is so “high school” in many ways, I could go on forever with the analogies.
So the open mind, ready for anything, and willing to try and jump of the cliff are great things to keep in your head as you dig into the how and why this thing works. And, as you say, start slowly and build. It takes time, and it takes patience, whatever your goal is.
Thanks for that reminder!
