I receive a direct message from a community member that should be shared with all of you.

    “Greetings,
My name is Dan. I saw you posted about connecting an internal hard drive externally. I just bought an internal OWC SATA Bluray Drive (accidently) and it obviously does not work with my macbook pro. I was wondering if there is a way to safely connect the drive externally with consistent results? If so, could you put me in the right direction? Here is a link to the drive I purchased: http://www.macproonline.com/OWC-SATA-Bluray-Drive-p8168987.html
Thanks a lot of any guidance you can send my way.”

    And this was my response…

“Hey Dan, I think that you should try the cables I mention on the post, http://lwees.com/connect-internal-hard-drives-externally/, as they will let you connect the drive to your machine to see if it even show up. After that I would suggest you to head over TigerDirect.com and get one of the FireWire enclousure like this one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5605880&CatId=2780. I prefer firewire 800 but if you find a cheap firewire 400 that should do it.

The firewire connection is very important since the mac is more probable to work under a faster than USB interface. Let me know if you have any other questions.”
