Review: Miro, Internet TV

Miro SiteI finally got to play with Miro, I don’t even remember where I first heard of it but it was a good experience overall. The concept behind Miro is like an aggregator that helps you manage your favorites shows and videos from around the Internet into one place for your enjoyment. The interface is very clean and easy to navigate, and with the download includes a small tutorial that lets know how to use the software.

Miro integrates very well with Mac OS X and display notifications of your downloaded file on Growl. You have the ability of creating your own channels on your software or you can add one of the preset channels. There’s more, you can search for items on the web, like on YouTube, and have those moved to your Miro software for your enjoyment.

The first option that you have when you start navigating Miro is the Miro Guide, in this guide you can find videos by category, popularity, and recently added videos. You can find programming on HD format including popular shows like GeekBrief.TV on Miro’s network. You get to search for content, look up items in your library, a section just for your newly downloaded files.

You have a gorgeous interface that allows you to play your downloaded videos in Full Screen View. But what is missing from this great software? For me is the integration with mobile devices, today I enjoy must of my Internet shows on my iPhone. While some I see them while on my computer, it is not my preferred way of consuming video. If I had a computer dedicated for my entertainment, in my living room, hooked to my TV then this is the software to have.

I’m still waiting for my invite to Hulu, other than that I don’t see any other company doing what Miro does, except for Apple and iTunes. If you are into watching a lot of Internet shows on your Mac, try Miro, I can see many people taking advantage of what they have to offer.
